DIY farmhouse beads

Okay, blogging isn't so easy. I spent hours typing this up yesterday and then the post would not save. My computer ended up crashing and I lost everything. Here's hoping this turns out better tonight. The bead strands themselves were super easy to make. All you need is a package of beads. I found that Amazon was the cheapest place to get them. This affiliated link was the best deal I found for the size I needed. https://amzn.to/366XboZ  I wasn't sure if the string included would be thin enough to use so I bought an extra roll since it was cheap and we go through string at the shop like cra cra.

When something kicks you in the azz.

Have you ever did anything to kick yourself in the ass? Me? Yeah, I did. I think about it almost everyday. I have always told my children that it doesn't matter what they do in life, it doesn't matter how much money they make, make sure you do something that you love doing. You will be doing it for the rest of your life. With that, my oldest took it and ran. Literally he ran as far as he could go. I have not seen him in a little over 2 years now.
Most of his high school career he was a party kid.

How our (2nd) kitchen renovation came to be.

One of the first things that came to mind when we decided to renovate the kitchen was a farmhouse sink.  It had been a dream of mine from long ago for the future house. I mean long ago since we lived in a mobile home that we purchased when we first got married. Yes, I said mobile home. It was our first home together. It was new. We bought 3 acres and planted it out on a hilltop in God's Country. We raised our children there for 6 years until we got enough money to buy a house. After that we rented it out for a while.

Fall porch display

One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to decorate my porch. I won't lie, previously before painting my brick, I wasn't as inspired as I am now. I have never liked the our brick color. Since we went white I'm head over heels in love with the exterior of my house. When you like the place you live, you are more inspired to keep it up.
Several people have asked my how I hang my signs on my brick wall. Well, I use these amazing little things called brick clips. Only available seasonally in one local store, I have had to hunt them down online during the year when I run out.

Outdoor living

Fall comes and goes way too fast for me. It's my favorite time of the year without a doubt. This spring wasn't too bad but usually our springs here in the South are either too hot or too cold. Fall is always perfect. It's the one time of the year that I love to get outside and decorate. I enjoy spending time on the deck with my babies and our family. The hammock is always out and bonfires are an everyday thing here. We keep the fire bowl up on the deck in the fall so it's easy to walk out, light up, and get cozy.

Installing cabinet lights.

Today we added lighting to the inside of our cabinets. I chose this set of 3 puck lights https://fxo.co/9w7Kfrom The Home Depot. Out of all the lights they had, this set made the most sense for us because we needed linkable lights. I had one outlet installed above the cabinets so that we could do our own lighting when we were ready. If I didn't choose the linkable light sets I would have need 4 outlets to plug into.  I really wanted the set with remote since I won't be able to turn these off and on without climbing somewhere but the remote set was battery operated with double stick tape to hold it in.

Feeling tired

So, I have been head over bed tired this week. I mean, I can't get up in the am early to save my life. Literally, if there was a fire I may pop my head up and then go back to sleep. Do y'all ever get like that? I think I need a B12 shot. I know I stay up late working every night but usually have no trouble getting up early regardless. Maybe I'm just getting old. I know I am but dang, I can't slow down. I have too much to do. Maybe I'm just exhausted. Maybe it's just caught up with me.

Just let life happen

After being off for 2 days and mainly working online while I was home, I left the house in a hot mess. Tile saw on the floor, clothes on the couch, boxes here and there. I mean mid construction in every corner of this house. Looking back I didn’t want to walk out like this. I didn’t want my kiddo to come home to a sink full of dirty dishes and nowhere to sit and grab a snack. Even the island was cluttered with my paperwork, computer and no telling what else. It bothered me all day at work. 4 hours later I have myself convinced that my baby girl knows how hard her mom works and if nothing else comes from today, she has learned over her lifetime that if you work hard at something, you eventually will be rewarded. We have to learn to give ourselves a break. Let life happen and not try to build something that we are not. The life that is happening everyday is the life your kids will look back on as the best days of their lives. I've previously done this 3 times. She is number 4. I know how this will play out. I'm going to let life happen today.

Cabinet bin pulls

When designing my cabinets, one of the most important things to me was storage. Style was right up there but I knew I could incorporate my own style with pulls. I love the apothecary look these pulls bring to my cabinets.  These pulls can be purchased here.https://amzn.to/3lIG4A7 Where else can you get a 10 pack of pulls for only $7.15? Only here! These pulls are antique copper. I needed the bronze look to tie in with my faucet and hardware but the highlight of the copper edging to tie into my overhead copper lanterns.

Our new glossy subway backsplash with detail.

Here she is. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure I wanted subway. In my mind, every home will have it in the next year if not already . I wanted something different and extra glossy. Without buying online, this is as glossy as I could find. It was close to subway but still a little different. I thought it wasn’t different enough but now that it’s up, I love! My biggest fear is that it would not fall in line with the shiplap. I was afraid one would be whiter than the other and give a dingy awkward look.
